“Two of Hearts”
inspired by a portrait of Irma Thomas by Louisiana painter Douglas Bourgeois, the music video for Sabine McCalla’s “Two of Hearts” will feature a vintage set built in a swamp in New Orleans. Featuring cinematography by A. Hennen Payne, production design by Li Yaffe, concept and direction by a.r. havel, and produced by Jamie Neumann.
^ photo of Sabine McCalla from another video shot by A. Hennen Payne emphasizes his aesthetic of soft lens paired with dappled light.

Working with the image as a verbatim reference (one that Bourgeois is excited to see come to life), we are working to create a replica of this image as a small world McCalla can interact with. In the video’s short narrative, she romantically packs up her apartment and hops onto a motorcycle towards a new love.
